“I’ve said it before but news organizations need to change the way they present. Younger audiences get their news from TikTok, Instagram Reels etc… that’s what news has to be.
The next question is how do you monetize that but that’s separate from purely an audience standpoint.
Young audiences are not reading newspapers, they’re not watching local newscasts… you have to go where the people are and provide them with information in a way they want to consume it.
I don’t know where young people actually read things these days. Obviously there are young people here on Reddit but I don’t know what kind of written content captures young people. But whatever it is, do that. But as with all journalism these days, you’ll need a mix of everything to capture an audience (video, audio, written etc).
Tone is important too. The more conversational, the better. Any audience, but especially young audiences don’t want to be talked AT they wanted to be talked TO. I’d argue that the writing should be just as conversational as you might be in a TikTok video.”
